Easily one of the best things about Bratz dolls is how color blind the dolls are. It’s inspiring to think that four girls of totally different races and backgrounds can be best friends – even if it’s just pretend. The Bratz dolls are obviously different skin tones and have their own personalities and features. This is very different from other fashion dolls that simply make the same doll in darker colors.

Having race present in Bratz games gives girls and their parents an excellent opportunity to discuss racial issues and makes girls more aware that there are dolls out there that look like them – and in a beautiful, unique way. Having popular dolls of every race and creed makes it more fun for anyone to want to play along, this is especially true of groups who tend to be left behind in the plastic doll department.

There are still concerns among parents about the way the Bratz games are dressed and their various facial expressions. But if parents are able to see past that to the true open-mindedness of the girls, there are very important lessons to be learned.
