There are some games you enjoy that you realize have faded over time. Mattel has even gone after Bratz for some infringement issues and won, but even with that sort of thing, Bratz will never fail. Why? Because they are too indicative of true society today.
As much as I love Barbie games, it’s safe to assume that most us realize Barbie lives in a fantasy world. Bratz, on the other hand are still fashion dolls that are make-believe, but they seem as though they could be much more real if circumstances allowed that sort of thing.
The Bratz dolls dress in an urban way. They have real names that girls today might have. They drive real cars and date boys that look more like the sort of thing you’d find in a high school today. Best of all the Bratz are a variety of races. I only wish they were a variety of sizes as well to truly represent where we are as a county and society today. But even in a tiny size, I’d be more comfortable in a room full of Bratz than I would be in a room full of Barbies – at least the Bratz would have something more to talk about.
